“Body Talk” Exhibition by Paige Tibbe Grand Opening of IF Boutique Naming of the Sandra Streiff Gallery

The Irma Freeman Center for Imagination (IFCI) presents the works of Paige Tibbe, exhibition open October 2, 2020 – November 15, 2020. We will have live music on opening night featuring Pittsburgh musicians. The IFCI will also be naming its back gallery in memory of Sandra Streiff, our dear friend and an extraordinary Pittsburgh artist. Her incredible shadow paintings are a fixture of the Streiff Gallery. Gallery and Boutique hours will be Tuesdays through Thursdays 12 pm to 3 pm. Fridays through Sundays 12 pm - 6 pm, or by appointment. The public is invited to this masked/socially distant exhibition reception and grand opening with plenty of space as we open the garage door and back lot for safe (masked) social intercourse.

The exhibition in the Streiff Gallery is Body Talk by Paige Tibbe. This work was made with consideration of how movement and gesture create a conversation in the margin of verbal communication. In these paintings, Paige explores the dialect of the body using color and form. Oversized hands argue, exist, and question themselves. Portraits of her friends mingle amid posed conversation between hands and expression. They explore a truth that cannot form into words, using color to suggest infinite feeling and form to encapsulate the experience.

Paige Tibbe is a visual artist based out of Pittsburgh, PA. She graduated from Seton Hill University with a BFA in Studio Art in the spring of 2017. Paige is a member of both the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Society of Artists. She has exhibited in Pittsburgh and the surrounding area, including the Christine Frechard Gallery, the Westmorland Museum of Art, and Percolate Gallery. Juried group exhibitions include the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh’s 106th Annual Exhibition curated by Taras Matla (2018) and I See You curated by Jen Melvin at Point Park University (2018). Paige has shown in other notable regional exhibitions such as the Students of Artists Who Teach at the Westmorland Museum of Art and Physique at Panza Gallery at which she was awarded Juror’s Choice Award (2018). Paige’s inclusion in the juried exhibition, Art of the State, in Harrisburg, PA was awarded with Honorable Mention for her painting titled Mike (2019). She now works out of the Susquehanna co-studio spaces located in Homewood.

The Irma Freeman Center is thrilled to announce that we are starting an artists’ boutique with a wide range of items for sale featuring IF artists. Items for sale range from collections to fine art and craft. We will be rotating items including jewelry, paintings, matted drawings, small sculpture, toys, cards, posters, handmade or locally published books and zines, clothing, accessories, handkerchiefs, miniatures, art kits, mixed media, photography, pop culture novelties, and other objects of interest and curiosity, such as crystals, tinctures, essential oils, candles and artifacts (we have vintage jewelry from the Colombian Amazon!). As our inventory grows we will include CDs and DVDs from local musicians and filmmakers. The goal of this shop is to create a space for IF artists work made available to the public at affordable prices. The IFCI has served this community since 2009 showcasing hundreds of artists. We welcome the opportunity to invite these artists back to be a part of the IF Boutique. Come check out our stash!
