ARTISTS TALK: JASON LEE

Artist Jason Lee discussed his exhibit, Suburban Home, before a live audience at Pittsburgh Filmmakers/Center for the Arts Thursday. Here is that conversation! Jason's exhibit is one of several solo exhibits on display at the center and will be available until Agust 25th. We will be showcasing other artist talks throughout the next couple days.

The work included in this exhibition can be best described as multimedia sculpture. The
pieces are comprised of a variety of techniques and materials employed for both structural
and conceptual concerns. Across the body of work fabricated steel elements serve as the
structure that ties all of the work together. The varied elements and techniques include;
paper embossments, screen printing, slip cast porcelain, woodworking, cast plastic, cast
rubber, aluminum, and blown glass. All of the works contain meticulously hand painted
elements.

About the Artist

Jason Lee is currently an Associate Professor of Sculpture and Foundations Coordinator in the

purveyor of chaos. Lee was born in 1969 in Goldsboro, NC. He received his BFA from Kent State
University in 1993 and his MFA from University of Wisconsin Madison in 1998. Jason Lee’s work
has been exhibited at MOCA Cleveland Ohio, UB Anderson Gallery Buffalo, NY, NOLA

Center. Madison, WI and many other venues beginning in 1999.
